Mission FAQ

SNIA's Mission

Develop and promote architectures, standards, and education through vendor-neutral collaboration of experts on data technologies that lead the industry worldwide.

Q. Why is SNIA updating its mission?

A. SNIA’s core values, to develop standards and provide vendor-neutral education through the collaborative efforts of our expert members, have not changed. As the proliferation of data accelerates, all technologies related to data are within SNIA’s scope. This mission update better reflects the work our members have been doing for several years.

Q. How does this impact Storage Developer Conference (SDC)?

Q: Who do I speak to if I want to set up an interview to discuss SNIA’s work and vision?

A: We would welcome the opportunity. Please email sniapr@snia.org.

Q: How does this impact industry partners?

A. SNIA has built strong strategic alliances with partners across the data and storage industries. Our updated mission aligns with the goals of these partnerships. Expanding our scope also positions SNIA to form new alliances to work on important projects.

Q. Is SNIA still the Storage Networking Industry Association?

A. SNIA will no longer be formally known as the Storage Networking Industry Association for public branding. SNIA (pronounced Snee-ah) will be used to better reflect the expanded mission and not artificially constrain the focus of technical work based on the expanded name that encompassed only “Storage” and “Networking”. At this point in time, SNIA will legally continue to be recognized as the Storage Networking Industry Association and abbreviated as SNIA.
