ISO/IEC 27001, 27701 and health data hosting compliance

Our cloud infrastructures and services are ISO/IEC 27001, 27017, 27018 and 27701 certified. These certifications ensure the presence of an information security management system (ISMS) for managing risks, vulnerabilities and implementing business continuity, as well as a privacy information management system (PIMS). Thanks to our health data hosting compliance, you can also host healthcare data securely.

Use cases

Specialist tasks

Many applications designed to perform specific tasks (machine learning, for example) have very-specialist computing requirements. However, once the task in question is complete, there is no need to maintain an inactive server. CPU instances are perfect for these kinds of one-off tasks.

Data intensive computing

These CPU instances are generally used for back-end applications (databases, queue servers) and batch jobs. They provide flexibility and processing capacity to handle high traffic surges and deliver smooth user experience, and ensure better performance.

Useful commands

Boot your instance
openstack server create --flavor c3-64 --image debian server01

Resize your instance
openstack server resize --flavor c3-128 --confirm server01

Public Cloud Pricing

Billing for Compute Optimized instances

These instances are billed like all of our other instances, on a pay-as-you-go basis at the end of each month. The price depends on the size of the instance you have booted, and the duration of its use.

Why choose OVHcloud for your Compute Optimized instances?

Our Public Cloud instance range is suited for all purposes and needs. We ensure the effective monitoring of your machines, in line with data processing and hosting commitments. Our vRack private network interconnects our various solutions, ensuring the security of your data and applications. Our cloud is sovereign, accessible and compliant for storing, processing, analysing and manipulating your data.

Your questions answered

What is a Compute Optimized instance?

A Compute Optimized instance is a type of cloud computing instance. It is designed to handle compute-intensive tasks and workloads such as data processing, modelling and simulation.

What are the differences between the c2 and c3 ranges?

The c2 instances correspond to our legacy instances. They comprise an Intel processor, while our c3 instances are part of our latest range and comprise an AMD processor. Our latest c3 range offers improved network performance.

What is the difference between a Compute Optimized Instance and a General Purpose Instance?

The difference between using a Compute Optimized Instance and a General Purpose Instance lies in their technical specifications. Compute Optimized instances are equipped with processors and resources optimised for compute-intensive tasks. They are therefore more likely to be used for applications requiring high raw computing power than memory and storage capacity. Our General Purpose instances, on the other hand, deliver a balance between computing power, memory and storage, which provides optimal versatility

Can I migrate my current c2 instance to a new c3 instance?

Yes, you can migrate your c2 instance to one from our latest range. The only requirement is the size of the destination model’s disk, which must be equal to or larger than the size of the source model. In addition, your target instance must have at least the same storage capacity as your current instance.

How do I migrate my c2 instance to a c3 instance?

To migrate your c2 instance to a c3 instance, you will need to edit your instance and change your model.
Changing your model may result in server downtime for a few minutes. Server downtime duration may vary depending on the model. In some cases, this may take more than an hour. It is recommended that you back up your instance before changing it. You can restore your backup using the original model if you encounter any problems after the change.

Which SLA is guaranteed by OVHcloud for this instance?

The SLA guarantees 99.999% monthly availability on instances. For further information, please refer to the Terms and Conditions of Service.

Do Compute Optimized instances have anti-DDoS protection?

Yes, all OVHcloud solutions have Anti-DDoS protection.

Can I integrate a Compute Optimized instance into the OVHcloud virtual private network (vRack)?

Yes, you can integrate an instance into the vRack network.

Can an IPv6 address be used on these instances?

Yes, each Instance comes with an IPv4 address and an IPv6 address.
