Reimagining the Role of Learning in a Live Enterprise

Reimagining the Role of Learning in a Live Enterprise

Disruption is the new normal. And, it has given birth to a new kind of enterprise – a living, intelligent one -- what we at Infosys call the Live Enterprise. The hallmark of a Live Enterprise is to be able to sense and respond to changes in the environment. But like businesses and business transformation, it’s people who are front and center of the change. The drivers may be technological forces, but the catalysts of change are people.

Empowering your workforce is a pivotal lever in becoming a thriving Live Enterprise. Here’s how you can reimagine a talent transformation program, in line with a Live Enterprise.

Cultivate talent that is diverse and hybrid. Enterprises that respond quickly to changes, and from multiple directions, boast of a far more holistic set of skills. STEM skills only no longer cut it. The talent of a Live Enterprise must reflect capabilities across STEM, humanities, liberal arts, design, etc. Practitioners must be able to move between disciplines and functions to create innovative solutions and imaginative ways to engage customers.

Learning must be always-on and non-interruptive. Elaborate, immersive, week/month long training programs do not allow an employee or enterprise the agility it requires to operate in today’s market. Anytime, anywhere, any-kind of learning is what is needed. Creating just-in-time, on-demand, byte-size learning is the order of the day. Our next-gen learning solution Infosys Wingspan/LEX was designed to help our teams and our clients’ accelerate their talent transformation.

Collaborate with the ecosystem to create talent and reskill. Skill development and re-skilling can no longer take place in a silo. It quite literally takes a village! The enterprise today must work with local communities, governments, and education institutions to create and reskill the current and future workforce. Repurposing, refactoring, and localizing talent, allows employees to get closer to client clusters and aids learning and innovation. Infosys university partnerships such as NC State for Data Science, Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), the Trinity Applied Learning Initiative, and others like Udacity and Purdue all explore new ways of solving complex challenges at the intersection of design, technology, and the industry.  Our collaborations with Community Colleges like Wake Tech are creating pathways for even more talent pools to train or re-skill for the jobs of the future. And partnering with government and educational institutions to reach our elementary school aged children to create excitement for critical thinking and technical skills is essential to creating longevity and diversity in our talent pipeline.

Nurture a culture that amplifies learning. Successfully transforming talent also means providing an environment built for the needs of the digital economy. Open workplaces without walled-off cabins or cubicle farms, fluid, digital screens, etc. allow employees to connect with colleagues and clients, making physical distance irrelevant. Applying AI, Data, Analytics to the HR function enables enterprises to experiment with HR policies and structures to anticipate employee needs, and identify unique needs among employees and offer individualized learning plans, personalized rewards, and tailored growth paths.

As a Live Enterprise, Infosys continues to provide continuous learning and better ways of working, and are ready for tomorrow in a hands-on way. What this is doing, in addition to positively impacting productivity, is facilitating improved employee experience, through enabling individuals to do purposeful work, supported by systems that let them outsource more of the routine to technology. We empower teams to make data-led decisions, act on these decisions effectively, leveraging user-friendly processes, and create an agile, energetic workplace. The real winner? Our Clients, who experience the hyper-productivity gains that comes from working with an IT Services provider that is creating the workforce of the future.

With all the talk around AI and digital disruption it is important to note as Deverre has shared that "people are the catalysts of change". We must continue to focus on providing people with the skills required to be the catalysts.
