Being Resilient by becoming a Live Enterprise

Being Resilient by becoming a Live Enterprise

As per a recent study done by Infosys Knowledge Institute, 68% of the enterprises are still in the early stages of accelerating their digital journey and everyone is looking for ways to exponentially accelerate and scale. These findings are consistent with what I hear from our clients, who are dealing with the duality of managing business resilience on one hand while accelerating the digital initiatives of cloud acceleration, digital workplace services, remote working, collaboration, shared spaces, and developing new engagement channels, and modes in this new normal. Only those enterprises that can deal with this duality and become resilient will survive. Being resilient means being able to respond to market disruptions, effectively, and without stepping off the treadmill of continually escalating expectations.

Over the last year and a half, we have been working on the challenge of becoming more resilient -- ourselves – and for our clients. We looked to natural life for inspiration -- to make enterprises, life-like, responsive, resilient beings, at an enterprise scale - and to transform into a Live Enterprise. In a Live Enterprise, intuitive decisions can be made automatically at scale, value chains are more agile and responsive, and experiences are perceptive and understand users and their needs ahead of time. To help our clients accelerate their digital journey, we have unveiled the Live Enterprise Suite, comprising of frameworks and platform services that have been architected for the future using open source technologies and operates across hybrid multi-cloud. The Live Enterprise suite augments and strengthens the existing systems of record and provides services to accelerate the digital journey. Here are the key components of the suite:

Infosys Live Enterprise Suite

Infosys Live Enterprise Suite

Polycloud: Increasingly most of our clients are starting to operate across multiple clouds, including their private clouds. To operate across multiple clouds, the Infosys Polycloud platform provides a thin layer of abstraction over the underlying cloud providers to move the application, data, and enterprise workloads at scale in a secure, consistent and compliant manner across the hybrid clouds. This offers enterprises a wider range of choices (avoiding lock-in and using best-fit cloud services) and an ability to get the most of their hybrid cloud landscape.

Modernize: As enterprises embrace hybrid cloud, the ability to move data-on-cloud and apps-on-cloud at scale, becomes critical to meet their cloud aspirations. Infosys has implemented a data-on-cloud platform that can move petabyte-scale data across multiple clouds in a secure and compliant manner This has resulted in significant cost savings and simplified data landscape. Another important element is to modernize apps by refactoring, containerizing, and moving them to cloud or migrating legacy systems to a cloud-native architecture. The app-on-cloud modernization services, helps accelerate app transformation to the cloud, thereby moving a large portion of business-critical operations to the cloud.

Intelligence: Moving to the cloud and modernizing the apps and data landscape, can offer agility and speed, but an enterprise will still lack the ability to sense, respond, evolve, and be resilient. The intelligence layer is at the heart of the Live Enterprise, where the observability services provides it the ability to sense what is happening across the IT landscape. Connecting all the data that exists in the different lines of business through a knowledge graph and real-time analytical databases enables enterprises to make sense of the events/signals and then using a combination of deterministic methods, AI services (vision, speech, text, NLP/Q), the digital brain determines how to respond to these business or user events/actions in real-time. This enables the making of routine intuitive decisions automatically at scale across the business and provides useful insights to human users to act meaningfully.

Experience: As a live enterprise becomes more intelligent, the experience has to be reimagined and simplified. The experience should be adaptable to provide a hyper-personalized experience for the users based on the context, channel, digital self, and the understanding of the user’s intent . To create an adaptable experience, the cognitive services provide the ability to bring intelligence in interactions, and an experience configuration kit uses the digital self to configure a user experience that is fully personalized to the user’s behavioral traits and interaction context.

Manage: All these new and existing IT capabilities have to be operationally resilient to deliver a better experience to users and the business. The management services provide an integrated view of the business KPI’s, metrics for the value chain, linked to the supporting applications and infrastructure to identify issues upfront and enable proactive and predictive resolution. The Live Enterprise Application Management Platform (LEAP) provides these capabilities and mines existing processes to identify opportunities to eliminate, automates using the bot factory, identifies hot spots to improve resilience and bring in self-healing capabilities.

Secure: In the current situation, where remote working and collaboration is the norm, securing the business operations and IT, enabling controls at the edge, remote monitoring and management, zero-trust security in a hybrid cloud operating model, and ensuring MAM and MDM coverage across all the endpoints and enterprise is key to becoming a Live Enterprise. To enable a security-first design model, our cybersecurity platforms provide these services that can be integrated into the enterprise IT landscape.

Enablers: Transforming to live enterprise is not just about technology, but its also about reimagining processes and experience, bringing in agility to the operating model, and building a digital runway for the enterprise that enables new features, products, and platforms to be delivered faster. From our own Live Enterprise transformation journey, we have curated a set of practices and services as enablers to help our clients. The platform playbook provides a reference model for architecting and implementing new platforms. The Live Enterprise store provides all the services and IP in an easy-to-use manner for clients and micro change management provides a new approach to drive change across the enterprise at scale.

Infosys is bringing all these capabilities, across layers, in the form of a set of horizontal platforms – for learning, career development, employee onboarding, productivity, and collaboration, among others. In addition these capabilities are also applied to solve industry-specific problems like live planning and dynamic pricing for consumer goods, sentient customer operations for telco players, and servitization for the manufacturing industry.
