📢 🗣️ Today at the European #ATMMasterPlan stakeholder consultation workshop, we hosted an executive round table, led by Alain Siebert #SESARJU, bringing together industry leaders. ✈️Some key takeaways…    💡 Athanassios Tziolas, EASA - European Union Aviation Safety Agency said the Plan is helping to ensure better alignment between EU policies, the regulatory framework and stakeholder needs. Performance monitoring will be key to a successful roll-out of the technological solutions. 💡 Vicente de Frutos Cristóbal, European Defence Agency recalled the growing military needs for access to the airspace and underlined the importance of enablers, such as resilient #CNS and cyber-secure data-sharing. 💡 Christoph Raab, Alliance for New Mobility, #AME spoke of the clear path that the Plan provides for the integration of unmanned aircraft into the airspace, but highlighted the need for incentivisation and encouraging investments at the level of Member States. 💡 Luc Laveyne, ACI EUROPE welcomed the door-to-door approach in the Plan and the recognition of #airports as hubs for smart multimodal mobility. He called for the Plan to take into account the investment realities of the stakeholders, especially given competing #investments around sustainable aviation fuels, #talent and adaptations to improve the passenger experience. 💡 Marylin Bastin, EUROCONTROL, said that addressing climate impact and #climate change is not a choice but an obligation. Addressing the human factor and having a network perspective will help us address the higher levels of complexity and address social acceptance, while also bringing improvements for #efficiency, #capacity, #environment, and #safety. 💡 Achim Baumann, Airlines for Europe (A4E), said that we should focus on what is necessary and not what is possible, especially on the introduction of artificial intelligence #AI. 💡 Ulf Thibblin, CANSO, said that with a robust and agile plan, #synchronisation between stakeholders, we can put in place the #technology enablers to harvest the operational benefits much faster.   #ATMMasterPlan #SESAR #DigitalSky #GreenDeal

Thank you to S3JU for holding this workshop and inviting A4E to participate in the panel discussions. Thinking of #FlyingForOurFuture I appreciate the vision now in the #ATMMasterplan (it even includes a personal favorite of mine - sectorless operations). Within the panel, improving the environmental footprint of aviation was the agreed overarching goal. The ATM Masterplan is the tool helping the aviation industry to reach that goal in a structured and efficient manner. To do so effectively it needs to outline and define the details/criteria so that investments having the biggest emission impact compared to their cost are prioritised. Efficient #FlyingForOurFuture requires the industry to invest into what is necessary not being coerced to invest into everything that is possible.

Airbus and LCI to partner on development of advanced air mobility ecosystems

🚁 Is the USA's #UrbanAirMobility (#UAM) #infrastructure ready for full-scale commercialization by 2025/2026? 📒 The recent Federal Aviation Administration report (https://lnkd.in/eBhjb7Wr) outlines plans for UAM services deployment by 2028. 46 city/region UAM programs are underway in the USA, with 15 imminent operations. Check out more details in the latest "Global AAM/UAM Market Map" (https://lnkd.in/eXennw5X) 🛫 Most initial UAM operations will utilize existing airports and heliports while unique partnerships like Joby Aviation, REEF and Neighborhood Property Group to explore rooftop sites in major cities, and Skyway and Berg Holdings to accelerate the development of a comprehensive network of UAM vertiports in the Bay Area. ⚠ Main issues still exist, with a lack of funding, not enough public consultation, a lack of coordination between the major stakeholders (especially non-aviation stakeholders) and some missing certification criteria for #Vertiport and UAS traffic management (#UTM) systems. 📈 The real test awaits: The real test for UAM in the USA will be scaling operations post-initial flights. The future air mobility (FAM) industry has reached new heights in 2023, with remarkable progress and exciting opportunities on the horizon. 🌤️✈️ With hundreds of companies pushing forward with ambitious plans, the FAM industry has witnessed increased drone delivery operations, expanded flight testing, and the growth of the supplier base. These milestones demonstrate the industry's commitment to innovation and its potential to transform transportation. Despite the economic and political uncertainties, investors have continued to fund the FAM industry, raising $4.5 billion in disclosed funding in 2023. This investment showcases the belief in the industry's ability to revolutionize air travel and logistics. However, challenges persist. Questions about technology advances, public acceptance, regulatory approval, and economics need to be addressed to maintain investor interest.
