Happy World Accreditation Day. The theme of this years event is brilliant and important for a society like ours, Nigeria and the entire Africa region. Accreditation and accredited conformity assessment activities (such as inspection, testing and auditing etc.) are essential for supply chain management programmes as well as ensuring that products meet required standard for international market, thereby supporting the current and future global trade. To ensure that products/services from the region are globally accepted, "act local, think global", is an essential model for Africa to embrace so as to tap greatly from the benefits associated with Accreditation. Tips: It is important to validate the status of a conformity assessment body with the associated accreditation authority such as Nigeria National Accreditation System, International Accreditation Service, Inc. (IAS), ANSI National Accreditation Board/ANAB , or UKAS before certain level of engagements. #wad2023

SGS awarded fourth consecutive PVoC contract for exports to Uganda We are pleased to announce the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) has again awarded SGS a contract to provide pre-export verification of conformity (PVoC) services for goods entering Ugandan markets. Starting on March 1, 2023, this is the fourth consecutive PVoC contract SGS has received from the Ugandan government. It is a testament to our expertise in providing trusted product conformity assessment (PCA) services that facilitate trade while protecting the environment and safeguarding consumers from harmful, substandard products. The PVoC program mandates that products with compulsory standards specification, as guided by the UNBS Act 1983, must be verified as complying with Ugandan technical regulations, standards and/or an approved equivalent. Once a product is proven to comply with applicable standards and technical regulations, it is issued with a Certificate of Conformity (CoC). This facilitates clearance of the certified consignment and allows access to Ugandan markets. #uganda #export #pvoc
