🚀 Exciting News in the World of Internet Freedom and Privacy! 🚀 The Tor Project has once again pushed the boundaries of digital privacy and censorship resistance with the introduction of WebTunnel. This innovative bridge type is a game-changer for users in regions where the Tor network faces censorship and blocking. 🔒 What Makes WebTunnel Stand Out? Unlike traditional methods, WebTunnel disguises Tor connections as regular HTTPS web traffic. This brilliant strategy ensures that these connections blend seamlessly with the vast majority of web traffic, making it incredibly difficult for oppressive regimes to detect and block them without also disrupting all HTTPS traffic. 🌍 Why This Matters? In today's digital age, the internet is a critical platform for communication, witnessing global events, organizing, defending human rights, and building solidarity. WebTunnel represents a significant step forward in ensuring that everyone, regardless of their location, has access to a free and open internet. 🔧 How Can You Get Involved? For those interested in leveraging this technology, WebTunnel bridges can be manually added to Tor Browser on both desktop and Android platforms. This development not only showcases the Tor Project's commitment to internet freedom but also calls for community support to test and deploy WebTunnel bridges worldwide. 🌐 A Call to Action As of now, WebTunnel has already seen adoption with over 700 daily active users across different platforms and has proven effective in regions like China and Russia. However, challenges remain in areas like Iran, highlighting the ongoing need for innovation and support in the fight against censorship. Let's celebrate this milestone in the journey towards a more private, secure, and uncensored internet. Share your thoughts and experiences with WebTunnel or other tools that empower users against digital surveillance and censorship. #TorProject #WebTunnel #InternetFreedom #DigitalPrivacy #CensorshipResistance #Innovation https://lnkd.in/gyFJkT3A

Every now and then we hear from the business world there’s too much regulation and we need to de-regulate. This article gives one scenario about what happens when you de-regulate and don’t think openly, thoroughly and unbiased. The same thing happened when domain registrations went to first-come-first-served. Yes, there were countries where domain registrations were, in the history of the Internet, subject to pre-screening and actual rules about who can register what: Finland was one of those where pre-screening and soft-law did exist — until business life demanded this to be changed into first-come-first-served. Road to hell is paved with good intentions. Or selfish.
