🎉 Happy (belated) International #GirlsinICT Day! Danielle Santos from the NICE team was honored to join the esteemed speakers at this event to help recognize and bring attention to diverse #cybersecurity career paths.
Celebrating Leadership and Advancing Diversity in Cybersecurity Yesterday, April 25th, coinciding with Girls in ICT Day, Global Forum on Cyber Expertise (GFCE) hosted an enlightening event "Empowering Through Initiatives: Developing Diverse Cyber Workforce and Career Pathways." Conducted online, this session was part of the Women in Cyber Capacity Building Network (WiCCB) efforts to address systemic barriers and foster a more inclusive cybersecurity workforce. Moderated by Luanda Domi, GFCE’s Gender Mainstreaming and Cyber Skills Development Manager, the panel delved into successful global strategies that promote women’s roles in cybersecurity. The speakers and participants sparked a dynamic conversation on the imperative of collaboration for nurturing a global cybersecurity ethos that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Emphasizing it, Marjo Baayen, Director of GFCE, highlighted the need for a collaborative and diverse global cybersecurity culture. At the same time, Ayan Islam, Director of Cyber Workforce at the Office of the National Cyber Director, The White House, elaborated on the US National Cyber Workforce and Education Strategy's crucial role in incorporating women and vulnerable groups into the cybersecurity sector. In addition to the discussion on the role of continuous education in adapting to the new digital era, Randy Pestana, Director of Cybersecurity Policy at the FIU Jack D Gordon Institute for Public Policy, and Danielle Santos, Lead for International Engagement for NICE at National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), discussed the vital need for training through the NICE Workforce Framework to develop skills in AI and machine learning for the future. We deeply appreciate all the speakers and participants for their valuable contributions and active participation in the event. We now invite our esteemed community to join us for the next meeting of the Women in Cyber Capacity Building Network on June 27, from 2 to 4 pm CET.
