Is performance important for you, along with the latest features and long-term support? Go with MariaDB 11.4. But don’t take our word for it. We asked well known benchmarking expert Mark Callaghan to check out a number of MariaDB and MySQL releases, hit them hard with a tool of his choice, and share his findings. https://lnkd.in/dQiDrbWV

Patrik Backman keeps nailing it - first at the "Cathedral and bazaar" panel during our #Fosdem fringe event in February - and now again in conversation with Emily Omier. Listen to his thoughts on investment in opensource, MariaDB ecosystem in general and MariaDB Foundation in particular!
Driving a car, with 36 minutes time to spare? Do listen to Emily Omier interviewing Patrik Backman, about MariaDB. Emily ("I help founders of open source startups accelerate revenue growth.") is an insightful interviewer, shedding light on all aspects of MariaDB. Patrik is even asked quite a bit about MariaDB Foundation, and he does fine, as expected. https://lnkd.in/div42sta

Mark Callaghan from Small Datum LLC shows that modern MariaDB can be up to 22% faster than modern MySQL. Furthermore, MariaDB has had almost no performance regression as features have been added. We attribute this to our performance-oriented development practices, where we keep code abstractions only where they provide significant benefit. https://lnkd.in/dQ_jee5Q

GPUs have the potential to speed up Approximate Nearest Neighbour searches significantly. Most ANN algorithms today don't easily fit into a traditional relational database setup due to their memory intensive requirements. However, as we're building #MariaDBVector, we're taking a close look at the state of the art and planning how to make use of these advances moving forward. This article https://lnkd.in/d5Xw8DWN published by Nvidia shows up to 3x more throughput for certain use cases, something we'd like to leverage in MariaDB as well.

Look at what our CEO has to say about the latest bid on MariaDB plc. MariaDB Foundation would have to cease to cooperate with the MariaDB plc, in case they get that type of owners!
What on Earth? Is the Progress Software now giving a bid for MariaDB plc (https://lnkd.in/dVdH4wCK) the same as the Progress Software that in 2001 sued my company (John Doe Corporation) and all of MySQL AB (https://lnkd.in/drM-Hwbv), in a case about GPL and trademark infringement? Heaven forbid to work with people of that kind of ethics again.
