It was a packed week filled with test drives and insightful discussions as the international expert jury, including journalists from more than 20 European countries, sought to crown the 'Bus of the Year 2025'. At MAN, we proudly celebrate our triple success with our Lion's Coach, NEOPLAN Cityliner, and Lion's City E, all receiving prestigious awards in recent years! This time, our first all-electric low entry bus, the new MAN Lion's City 12 E LE, unveiled at Busworld 2023 in Brussels, joined the competition. eMobility and product diversity, hand in hand: There are now well over a million possible configurations of the MAN eTrucks - highly customisable MAN eTGX and eTGS models, for all sorts of applications. Just in time for IFAT, the world's leading trade fair for water, sewage, waste and raw materials management, running from 13 to 17 May in Munich. In Munich, we are launching a variety of wheelbases for the electric trucks. They form the ideal vehicle basis for the municipal and utilities sectors, thanks to a variety of cabs, engine outputs and sector-specific equipment - and with their extremely durable batteries which can be combined in many configurations. In line with the new eTruck range, MAN is presenting its 360-degree eMobility Consulting at the IFAT fair. The successful journey continues! MAN and FC Bayern Munich are extending their partnership and confirming their long-term collaboration until 2027. The partnership has been in place since 2008, making it the longest cooperation between MAN and a football club. "FC Bayern is a brand with international appeal, but it is also deeply rooted in the region. This also applies to MAN. We are looking forward to continuing our long-standing partnership, which has been agreed for a long time", says MAN CEO Alexander Vlaskamp. On 11th April, Gerhard Grünig, editor-in-chief of TRUCKER magazine and Verkehrsrundschau, and Gianenrico Griffini from the Italian transport trade magazine ‘Vie & Trasporti’ and chairman of the International Truck of the Year jury, made history as the first renowned trade journalist to take the new MAN eTGX on public roads. Their journey spanned the motorway from Munich to Nuremberg and back again. MAN aims to deliver the first pre-series models of the MAN eTGX to pilot customers by early summer. Gerhard Grünig and Alexander Vlaskamp, CEO of MAN Truck & Bus SE, shared the first part of their tour, during which special load carriers were transported to Nuremberg for production. ‘My expectations have been fulfilled. E-mobility works - even in trucks. What's more, driving is totally pleasant and quiet,’ Grünig summarised his experience. During the journey, Vlaskamp emphasised, "This is the future we are currently on the road with. MAN Truck & Bus SE once again delivered a strong performance in the first quarter of fiscal year 2024 – despite offsetting effects such as weaker demand and higher material prices. Revenue rose to €3.5 billion – an increase of 3% compared to the first quarter of 2023 (€3.4 billion). Around 24,000 new vehicles sold represented a decrease of 12% compared to the previous year (Q1 2023: around 27,300). This is mainly due to a model year change in the first quarter of 2024 and the high level of the comparative quarter, in which catch-up effects had an impact. Adjusted operating result climbed by 41% to € 278 million in the first quarter of 2024 (Q1 2023: € 197 million). The adjusted operating return on sales rose by 2.1 percentage points to 7.9% (Q1 2023: 5.8%). "MAN stays on track," said MAN CFO Inka Koljonen. "Despite a weaker market environment, we have further improved our performance. The measures introduced in recent years make us more resilient to market fluctuations. Milence, a Joint Venture of TRATON GROUP, Volvo Group and Daimler Truck, is an important player in driving the charging infrastructure in Europe forward. In Heudebouville, a commune near the French city of Rouen, a new loading centre is opening its doors. Like all other Milence charging centres, this new location is open to all trucks, regardless of brand. To ensure accessibility for all trucks on the market, Milence has signed agreements with various e-mobility service providers (eMSP) in Europe.
