📢 IATA launches initiative to enhance industry's transition to 'Enhanced Ground Service Equipment' Hactl - Hong Kong Air Cargo Terminals Limited and Menzies Aviation - first to be recognized 👏 DYK the annual cost of ground damage could reach $ 🔟 billion by 2️⃣0️⃣3️⃣5️⃣ unless preventive action is taken. Enhanced GSE would reduce ground damage costs per turn rate by 4️⃣2️⃣ %. Despite this adoption has been slow. That's why we have launched the IATA Enhanced GSE Recognition Program. 👇 https://bit.ly/3y7YsxI

The UK government's new Sustainable Aviation Fuels policy could offer a pragmatic way to step up supply of SAF. But an urgent decision is needed on the revenue certainty scheme if the ambition to have 5 SAF plants under construction by 2025 is to be met.
Recently the UK revealed a set of policy proposals to increase the use of Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) in flights from the UK. Here we share our thoughts on the policy and importance of the next consultation to secure further certainty for investment. Global SAF production last year was only about 0.5 million tonnes, we need to get that to about 400 million tonnes by 2050. It sounds incredibly ambitious, and it is, but we’ve seen similar uptake of new energy technologies in other areas, notably wind and solar. These successes were underpinned by effective government policies to encourage investment and foster R&D. IATA is looking forward to the UK finalizing the next important phase of SAF policy that should provide revenue certainty and therefore support SAF investment. Ramping up production is now key. https://lnkd.in/eadx-8UU Department for Transport (DfT), United Kingdom, Jet Zero Council

Ground handling may not always be in the spotlight but it plays a vital role in #aviation. Three priorities highlighted for #groundhandling at the IATA Ground Handling Conference (IGHC), taking place in Reykjavík, Iceland and hosted by Icelandair are: ▶️ Improving #safety through reducing operational risk ▶️ Implementing global standards ▶️ Embedding #sustainability – people, planet, and prosperity – in all activities “Ground handling forms the backbone of #aviation; it is critical to ensuring the safe and efficient transport of millions of travelers each year.” - Monika Mejstrikova, IATA’s Director of Ground Operations.
