Can't believe the RSA Conference is over! Here are a few important highlights we walked away with: 1-Quality vs. Quantity: After attending numerous social events (and comparing it to our own event), walking the crowded show floor, and talking to countless partners and customers, it was easy to see which security vendors were doing it right versus who weren't. And no big (as in crowd size) does NOT always mean better. 🏋♀️ What we learned is that gimmicks and free food/drinks will only get you so far, but honesty/transparency, active listening, and helpfulness—these simple things will help you elevate conversations and stand out in a sea of sameness (same messaging, branding, pricing, sales pitch etc.) Concentrate on quality versus quantity. 👑 Our social event with the Absolute AppSec Crew last Monday evening is great proof of this (check out the pics below). Everyone was relaxed and happy, and we all walked away with new friends and new appsec knowledge (like point 3). Thanks to all who attended and made this a smashing success. 🔥 2-AI and LLMs in AppSec: This topic was everywhere! To sum it up, AI will not take our cybersecurity practitioner jobs away, nor should we rely or expect it to do all the work for us. If a vendor waxes on about how much their technology leverages AI to do (API discovery or monitoring, secure design, testing, etc.), run away! Check out our podcast recap to learn more: https://lnkd.in/g_cdsnvu 🧠 3-API Security is Not a WAF: Yes, you heard that right. It was a topic that came up at our event, and has since sparked debate on LinkedIn (https://lnkd.in/gc7ufVVd)— believe it or not all this hype is based on a blog we recently wrote (check it out: https://lnkd.in/gvbMU5fh) 🤔 Leave a comment or hit us up at try.imp.art to discuss any of the above or to meet at a future event.
