📣 It's time for HUCAN's inaugural #stakeholder workshop! ✈️ Happy #WorldPilotsDay! Today, we pay tribute to 𝐌𝐞𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐄𝐯𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐯 and all women and men who have dedicated their lives to #aviation. But who was Fesa Evrensev? 🛫 On this very day in 1912, the young Turkish #pilot Fesa Evrensev (1878-1951) took his first flight, marking the beginning of a long journey in Turkish aviation. Fesa Evrensev went on to become the first Turkish military pilot to participate in numerous flight missions during the Balkan Wars of 1912 and 1913. In 1933, he made history once again by becoming the inaugural president of Turkish Airlines. ✨ Recognizing the importance of Fesa Evrensev's legacy, the Turkish Airlines Pilots' Association designated 26 April as Pilots' Day. In 2013, IFALPA - The International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations acknowledged the need for a day to celebrate the contributions of pilots worldwide and thus, they chose 26 April as World Pilots' Day to honor the inaugural flight of Mehmet Fesa Evrensev. Starting form 2014, we celebrate this important event.
