🎉 We are happy to share that the Estonian Internet Foundation is highly valued amongst out .ee Registrars! A couple of weeks ago, we conducted a survey in order to map the satisfaction of our registrars. In addition to that, we gathered ideas on how to develop our services in order to be the best partner to our registrars. 💙 The results show that the satisfaction has grown within the last years are we are highly valued. The respondents pointed out the innovation and new ideas on how to improve the .ee domain. In addition, the fast response rate and support in case of any questions or problems. 🦋 What did 2024 bring to the #ee domain names? Let's take a closer look. We are happy to share that #2024 has started off great with a 6.1% YOY growth, meaning that in the first quarter, more than 9 000 new .ee domains were brought to this world. As expected, the most popular word in the domains are still related to cars, construction and #estonia. We can see that there are also some new trends - the increasing use of the different versions of the word loan. This is a sign of the emergence of companies that are offering loan services, but on the other hand also the need for them. One may assume that this is a reflection of the state of the county's economy. In addition, more and more registrants are using the word #tartu in their domain name. Most likely it is due to the European Capital of Culture Tartu 2024 that is being used by local companies in their various marketing outputs. Therefore, it is a good example, how an outstanding domain name is more that just an address and gives its owner a value in a broader level. 👉 Learn more about the .ee trends from the brand new blog post!

We are happy to share that the Council of the Estonian Internet Foundation has two newly appointed members. Both new members are experienced in the ICT and cybersecurity field and bring valuable expertise to our leadership. The new members are Toomas Vaks, Cyber Risks Manager at Swedbank Estonia and Erik Janson, the State Communications Technology Advisor to the Ministry of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia. We wish the new members of the council success in their responsible position!

🎉 The Estonian Internet Foundation's campaign received a much appreciated advertising award, the Silver Egg! 🙌 The award is given out in the national Golden Egg competition, and we are beyond proud of our collaboration with the agencies Utoopia (Liina Jakobson and Alvar Jaakson) and EssenceMediacom. The Estonian Internet Foundation recently updated the .ee zone file with licence conditions. In this light, we put together an overview of the zone file and how it has changed throughout the years. The .ee zone file was not public until 2019. Behind that decision were three main aspects that were related to the data, drop catchers and trademark protection. In addition, it was determined that the #estonian Public Information Act did not declare .ee zone file as public information. With that, the decision to make zone file public in the future was given to the Foundation. However, by 2019, all the problems related to the public zone file, were alleviated. Mostly thanks to our Auction Portal, GDPR and the opportunity to register .ee domain without a name serve. Therefore, the zone file was made public and last year, was updated with CC BY 4.0 license agreement.
