"#Matter just released its new 1.3 specification for smart home device makers and platforms. This adds new features and device types to the smart home interoperability protocol, which is supported by Amazon, Google, Apple, and other major smart home members in the Alliance. These additions make your #smarthome more efficient with energy monitoring features and connect more #IoT devices to control so all the best smart home devices can work better together in a singular ecosystem.” Hunter Fenollol, Tom's Guide https://bit.ly/4bvpNIq #csaiot #standardsmatter #iotsolutions #iotsecurity #globaltech #buildwithmatter

Alliance Promoter Member Nordic Semiconductor shares the launch of #Matter 1.3 which includes new device types, better commissioning, and fewer messages. Learn about the latest updates below! ⬇️ #csaiot #standardsmatter #smarthome #iotsolutions #iotsecurity #globaltech #buildwithmatter
Matter is the connectivity standard that enables various smart home devices to work in harmony. We are excited that the Connectivity Standards Alliance has released the #Matter 1.3 spec, which includes new device types, better commissioning, and fewer messages! A lot of highly anticipated device types have been added to Matter in the 1.3 spec, including new kitchen appliances like cook surfaces, cooktops, ovens, extractor Hood, microwave ovens, laundry dryers, and for water management: boolean sensors, water leak detectors, valve. Not to mention as a bonus Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) is added in the category of Energy management-oriented devices. Our nRF Connect SDK v2.7.0 (to be released in Q2) will incorporate Matter 1.3 stack, which allows you to create new device types using Matter Template sample as a base. The new spec includes enhancements to the data model that should improve commissioning time and reduce the overall number of exchanged messages. The Intermittently Connected Device (ICD) support has been generally improved. However, this feature is still provisional for devices with very long sleep duration (LIT, but it will be very interesting once the Matter 1.4 update comes around. There are also new/revised clusters mostly corresponding to the newly introduced device types. A noteworthy one is a cluster for diagnostic logs for better in-field debugging and to enhance end-user experience. "Matter 1.3 also adds new features to existing device types. Scenes let you control multiple gadgets with a single command. For example, you could say 'good night' to your smart speaker of choice, and your doors will lock, your lights will turn off, and your blinds will shut. An update to smart TVs and media casters allows more notifications from other gadgets to appear on your screen.” Andrew Gebhart, PCMag https://bit.ly/3yblELs #csaiot #standardsmatter #smarthome #iotsolutions #iotsecurity #globaltech #buildwithmatter

"In addition to scene support to #Matter for smart lights, version 1.3 brings home appliances including microwaves, ovens, cooktops, and dryers to the standard. The ability to control cooking time, power and notifications will be some of the options available for microwaves." "Along with support for new device types, #Matter 1.3 brings users heaps of new energy management features. This includes the option for device types to report actual and estimated energy usage numbers — such as voltage, current, and energy consumption over time. Developers can even use Matter with leak and freeze detectors, rain sensors, and controllable water valves to monitor overall water usage.” Jon Bitner, Digital Trends Media Group https://bit.ly/4bxL18R #csaiot #standardsmatter #smarthome #iotsolutions #iotsecurity #globaltech #buildwithmatter
