We teamed up with NetHope and StateRAMP to create four steps that can guide software manufactures to bolster the digital defenses of schools, municipalities, non-profits, and other “target-rich, cyber-poor” organizations: LINK 1- Take our Secure by Design pledge 2- Make it easy to use technology products securely for users 3- Contribute time and technical expertise to programs 4- Develop a program that offers tools or services for free or at a discounted rate. Today, CISA, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and United Kingdom cyber agencies published Secure by Design Choosing Secure and Verifiable Technologies, a roadmap with internal and external considerations to help all organizations procure and use digital products and services that align to Secure by Design principals. This guide also informs manufacturers on steps they should be taking to align their development processes to be secure by design. Inadequate or poor security may expose organizations to increased and possibly unmanageable risks, as well as higher operational costs. By investing in secure products and services, organizations can reduce operating costs over time, enhancing profitability and organizational reputation to build long-term, sustainable corporate value. All organizations, including software manufacturers, are encouraged to use this guide designed to assist them improving the security of their use and procurement of products. https://lnkd.in/gGWzJ65E

We announced voluntary commitments by 68 leading technology manufacturers to a Secure by Design pledge to design products with greater security built in: go.dhs.gov/34r Participating software manufacturers are pledging to work over the next year to demonstrate measurable progress towards seven concrete goals: increasing the use of multi-factor authentication; reducing default passwords; reducing entire classes of vulnerability; increasing the installation of security patches by customers; publishing a vulnerability disclosure policy; demonstrating transparency in vulnerability reporting; and increasing the ability for customers to gather evidence of cybersecurity intrusions affecting their products. A BIG thank you to the companies that have already signed the pledge! 👉Learn more and join us by signing this voluntary pledge today: https://lnkd.in/gZuA8aAQ

Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency reposted this
🎙 A CISA director, a former CISA director, and a Pulitzer-Prize finalist and reporter for The Washington Post walk onto an #RSAC 2024 Keynote stage. SentinelOne's Chris Krebs joined Cybersecurity and Infrastructure Security Agency Director Jen Easterly and Joseph Menn at #RSAC Tuesday morning for a wide-ranging conversation. The three cybersecurity luminaries discussed Chinese and Russian threat actors, the Microsoft breaches and Secure by Design, artificial intelligence, and more. "The challenge," said Krebs, "is that unlike even a decade ago, technology, cyber, information operations, Disinfo, is an integral part to conflict, to military doctrine. And when I talk to businesses about it, it's become increasingly clear that, unlike 10 years ago, business risk and geopolitical risk are intertwined. You cannot pull them apart." Krebs even referenced William Gibson's "Neuromancer" and its eerie parallels to cyberspace today. Krebs on Krebs next year? What do you think Brian Krebs?
