A big thank you to the Council of Chief State School Officers for inviting me to speak about the quantitative research we've been doing at the Center for Democracy & Technology, highlighting public school teachers' experiences during the 2023-24 school year with #GenerativeAI policies, training on the technology, and management of student use. My session also covered some of the biggest risks we've identified when it comes to incorporating generative AI in K-12 classrooms -- and recommendations to mitigate these risks -- such as hallucinations, declining teacher trust in students, and deepfakes. It was such a pleasure talking with and learning from state leaders across the country and their journeys with generative AI!
