What will the world of communications and the internet look like in 2044? auDA has today released its Future Scenarios Project Report, developed with a range of internal and external stakeholders, which presents three scenarios with starkly different views of a possible 2044. The scenarios are intended to guide our strategic decision-making and help us consider how we might respond and contribute to a future in which the internet is markedly different from the present. We see the Future Scenarios Project Report as a public resource and invite others to use it for their own strategic planning. We were pleased to hear from leaders from across Australia's comms sector including Minister for Communications Michelle Rowland MP and Shadow Communications Minister David Coleman. It was also great to hear about Vocus subsea cables providing greater resilience and connectivity to Australia and our neighbours in the Pacific, and see a strong future focus from the sector, with AI, the metaverse and extended reality starting to unlock benefits for businesses.
