12 September 2002 Via Fax and E-mail W.G. Champion Mitchell Re: Whois Data Accuracy Dear Mr. Mitchell: Thank you for your 11 September letter regarding Network Solutions Registrar’s efforts to better ensure compliance with its obligations with respect to Whois data accuracy. I am glad to hear that you are working promptly not only to correct the specific inaccuracies highlighted in my 3 September letter, but also to implement a “more streamlined process” to “monitor the emails received and address these reports in an expeditious matter.” As you may have already noticed, ICANN has implemented a new InterNIC Whois Data Problem Report form <http://www.internic.net/cgi/rpt_whois/rpt.cgi>, which we hope will help all accredited registrars to receive and address complaints about inaccurate and incomplete Whois data. Forms submitted from the InterNIC form will be forwarded to the responsible registrar, and a tracking mechanism will be implemented to provide registrars with periodic summaries of outstanding reports about inaccurate or incomplete Whois data and to allow them to record when reported problems have been resolved. We will provide Network Solutions’ Registrar and all other registrars with additional details and documentation as soon as they are available. Thank you again for your constructive reply and efforts. I look forward to hearing from you shortly that all of the identified breaches have been cured. Best regards,
