After gathering input from right across the ICANN community, the ICANN Board has finalized the Position Description for the next President and CEO of ICANN. The Board shared the draft position description last week during ICANN77, and the latest version is available on the Search Committee webpage.
I'd like to once again thank everyone who contributed to the first phase of the search effort by participating in any one of the 15 Board Listening Sessions and providing really valuable input on what ICANN needs in its next leader. Thank you also to those who attended the Board's session at ICANN77 and shared your thoughts on the position description and search process. With this milestone reached, we have now entered Phase 2 of the search process. The Board has issued a Request for Proposals for executive recruiting agencies. If the Board makes any changes to the position description based on feedback from the recruiting firms, we will be sure to let the community know.
Once the Board makes its selection, we expect the subsequent candidate search process to last through the end of the calendar year. Beyond that, we anticipate conducting interviews with candidates beginning in January 2024, and appointing the next CEO of ICANN by the second quarter of calendar 2024.
