ICANN to Hold Meeting in Vietnam on DNS Abuse

16 August 2023

The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is planning to hold a "A Day of Domain Name System (DNS) Abuse Discussions" on 4 September 2023 in Da Nang, Vietnam. This hybrid event is part of a series of technical workshops that includes the ICANN DNS Symposium (5 September) and OARC 41 (6 – 7 September).

"A Day of DNS Abuse Discussions" will touch on several topics, starting with the proposed amendments to the existing obligations related to DNS abuse in the Registrar Accreditation Agreement and Registry Agreement. To learn more about this topic, read this blog by ICANN's interim President and CEO, Sally Costerton.

We will also conduct several capacity-development sessions to help registries and registrars share best practices and improve their abilities to combat DNS abuse. This will include a session on phishing and proactive approaches to protecting the DNS.

We are hoping that by the end of the day, participants will have a solid understanding of the proposed obligations, and new tools in their kit to give them the confidence to support the pending contractual amendments. Here is the agenda.

Event dates for the series of technical workshops are as follows:

  • Monday, 4 September, 2023: A Day of DNS Abuse Discussions
  • Tuesday, 5 September, 2023: ICANN DNS Symposium
  • Wednesday, 6 September, to Thursday, 7 September 2023: OARC 41

Registration for all events is now open. Through the registration page, select which of the events you plan to attend, in person or virtually, and if you would like to attend the complimentary cultural experience and social dinner. You will also be offered a visa invitation letter.

Discounted hotel accommodations can be found on this website. Sponsorship opportunities are available. For questions, please email CPSummit@icann.org

We hope you can join us and look forward to meeting you in Da Nang!
