Request for Proposal: RSSAC028 Implementation

1 November 2021

Today, the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) organization issued a request for proposal (RFP) to identify a contractor qualified to conduct the study called for in Section 7.2 of RSSAC028, "Technical Analysis of the Naming Scheme Used For Individual Root Servers."

The contractor will be required to carefully review RSSAC028 and perform the analysis, including surveying root server operators (RSOs) about their authoritative server software, creating or extending an existing resolver testbed to create reproducible results, and performing the complete analysis of the options for naming the root server identifiers.

Indications of interest should be emailed to RSSAC028.Implementation-RFP@icann.org. Proposals should be electronically submitted using ICANN's sourcing tool at the latest by 23:59 UTC on 10 December 2021. Access to this tool may be requested via the same email.

About ICANN

ICANN's mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.
