A Fantastic Choice for Podcasting and More:
As a beginner diving into the world of podcasting and voiceovers, I couldn't be happier with my choice of the Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB Cardioid Dynamic Microphone. This versatile microphone is a game-changer, and it's designed to be a reliable companion for years to come. What sets this microphone apart is its dual connectivity. With both USB-C digital output and XLR analog output, it provides flexibility that's hard to beat. While many competitors offer only mini-USB, this microphone goes the extra mile, offering the connectivity options I need for various recording scenarios. It's a simple but powerful feature that makes a world of difference. The microphone itself delivers crisp, clear audio that's a joy to work with. And when paired with a windscreen and a pop filter (both sold separately), it transforms into a radio-quality microphone, capturing every nuance of your voice. Whether you're podcasting, recording voiceovers, or engaging in any content creation, this microphone truly shines. The package comes with both XLR and USB-C cables, making setup a breeze, and the not so sturdy tripod desk stand with folding legs is a practical addition, albeit not very useful for my studio. It's easy to transport, if you were doing a mobile recording or voiceover job, it would work.I have been particularly impressed by the sound quality. The cardioid polar pattern reduces unwanted sounds from the sides and rear, enhancing the isolation of the desired sound source. Now, let's talk about the downsides. It would have been great if a windscreen was included in the package, as it's an essential accessory for minimizing plosives and improving audio quality. Additionally, the stand, while functional, could be more stable. It might wobble a bit, especially if you're working in a busy environment. In summary, the Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB Dynamic Microphone is a fantastic choice for anyone starting a podcast or diving into voiceovers. Its exceptional audio quality, dual connectivity, and ease of setup make it an ideal choice for beginners and a valuable tool for professionals. Just remember to invest in a windscreen, and you'll be well on your way to creating top-notch audio content.

This microphone is a sound investment for anyone passionate about recording and podcasting.

I'm very pleased with this microphone. It sounds good and works well. I use it for video conferences and ham radio. It has an nice heft to it, and feels substantial and well made. The included stand is plastic and seems a little flimsy and is not all that attractive, but it works. Lots of cabling comes with the mic. I have only used it in USB mode and have not tried it in an XLR audio application. Definitely worth the price.

I bought this mic with the intention to use it for commentary, podcasts and on-set recording. The sound quality is phenomenal, super crisp and clean with very little static. I hooked this bad boy up to both my zoom h4 via 48v phantom power and directly to my computer running my capture software, and the sound quality holds up on both ends, I can only imagine the magic this thing can make with a decent audio interface.

I will say the one down side is that the mic stand it comes with is very, and I mean VERY, V E R Y cheaply made. The build of it is entirely made of plastic with loose and flimsy joints, so be prepared to upgrade to a more heavy duty stand at some point(which is what people should be doing in the first place instead of basing their initial review of this product on the quality of the stand alone lol, get good dummies). That being said, it's a very small and petty price to pay for a pro-sumer mic of spectacular quality. Pair this with a proper shock-mounted stand and BAM: pro audio in a pinch.

Overall, the mic is an absolute must for beginners and pros alike. The price point might be high, but Audio technica has always been a considerable "high end" brand on the pro-sumer market, compared to premiums like Senheiser or Sony, but still offers quality without significantly denting your budget.

ALSO, something to note for owners of the OG ATR 2100:
I've had experience in using the original 2100(the silver one) from a friend. The sound quality is the same and has the same harware with the exception of the mini usb port vs the 2100x's usb type c. I personally think the upgrade from the 2100 to the 2100x is not worth it, but at the same time there are some people who would look at the updated hardware as a plus.

Decent Mic for getting decent sound straight in through a USB. If it had a longer cord to connect to USB, that would be great. The desktop tripod stand that came with the unit is a pretty cool idea but holder has some issues with keeping any angle, that is not Straight up and down - but that can be overcome. It’s just the only reason it gets a four. A definite good value for the cost for the home recording person.

Great recording microphone for any phone. Has a low impedance output for house sound and a digital out for phone or computer. My wife is a choir director and we make recording for the choirs to learn their songs. For years we used the phone mike it made adequate recordings, then we bought a popular mike (that looks like a SM7) and we were surprise how much the recordings improved today we recorded with the Audio-Technica ATR2100x-USB Cardioid Dynamic Microphone with USB and XLR Outputs and we were really impressed. Really clear fidelity a mile apart from our prior microphone. It's a keeper. More good things: - it includes an XLR cable, has a real on and off switch, and has two USB cables one to a phone and for a computer. I did not need to buy any adapters. The microphone comes with a stand that sort of works. Yes it holds up the mike if the mike is balanced right. But I am really happy with the fidelity of the microphone. The build quality of the mike is also impressive seems to be all metal - looks similar to a SM58. Wow.

This is the first ‘professional’ mic I buy and I’m really happy with the sound quality. I work a lot with voice acting on online projects and this is really good for it, compared to phone mic and headsets.

La primera vez que compré este producto para usarlo con mi Mac ya causó problemas y no funcionaba, lo devolví y me enviaron otro. Al cabo de poco tampoco funcionaba. El Mac simplemente no lo reconoce. He probado con diferentes cables, adaptadores, etc y no funciona. A evitar!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great value!

This is my first "semi-professional" mic and I have been quite impressed. I primarily podcast from home using my MacBook Pro, but will occasionally be connecting with a friend and using his Scarlett interface. So with this being one of the few products on the market that is USB/XLR, I was excited to give it a try. It has yet to disappoint. I will outline my pros and cons:

    Pros:
    - good quality materials. At 150$, this is on the cheaper end of the semi pro options. The materials feel more than adequate and quite durable. I wouldn't treat this mic for daily use traveling shows, but for home use it's perfect.
    - sound is crisp and clear. With no modifications, the sound profile is quite flat, but very crisp. If you use garage band, or whatever software you have available, add a bit of low end and it will nice and robust.
    - pops aren't too bad, but would consider getting some sort of pop filter or foam covering

    Cons
    - the worst thing about this mic is the sound transfer from the body. Do not use this thing handheld, it pics up everything. Keep it on the stand or get a boom.
    - sticking to sound transfer, if you have it on the stand, refrain from using your keyboard or moving your mouse around. Again, it can get picked up pretty easily

Overall, if you stay within its capabilities and control your environment, this is a great piece of kit. I've been very happy with it and would definitely recommend this for podcasting or video conferencing!
