AMDAHL LAUNCHES UTS MAINFRAME UNIX VERSION

Amdahl has unveiled Version 4.1 of its UTS mainframe Unix, based on the Unix System V.4.1 Enhanced Security. Amdahl has also added the Amdahl-Universal Measurement Architecture, said to be the first implementation of the Unix International Performance Management Working Group's condition for defining interfaces for collecting data on system conduct. The Version 4.1 also offers support for the company's OpenTune graphical performance monitor, an option which accesses and shows information gathered by the Architecture. Amdahl has also changed the pricing structure to urge clients to test out mainframe Unix. Initial licence fees are in the USDlr15k-USDlr25k price range, with monthly fees in the USDlr2,700-USDlr5,250 range.
