🛫 Happy #WorldPilotsDay! Today we celebrate 𝐌𝐞𝐡𝐦𝐞𝐭 𝐅𝐞𝐬𝐚 𝐄𝐯𝐫𝐞𝐧𝐬𝐞𝐯 and all women and men who've dedicated themselves to aviation. But who was Fesa Evrensev? ✈️ On this day in 1912, Turkish pilot Fesa Evrensev (1878-1951) made his maiden flight, marking the beginning of a remarkable journey in Turkish aviation. Evrensev went on to become Turkey's first military pilot, bravely taking part in numerous flying missions during the Balkan Wars of 1912 and 1913. In 1933, he made history again by becoming the first president of Turkish Airlines. ✨ In recognition of the importance of Evrensev's legacy, the Turkish Airlines Pilots' Association has declared 26 April as Pilots' Day. In 2013, IFALPA - the International Federation of Air Line Pilots' Associations - recognised the need to celebrate pilots worldwide and chose 26 April as World Pilots' Day to commemorate Evrensev's maiden flight. We've been celebrating this occasion since 2014.
