De-categorization[edit]
Please stop de-categorizing prgramming language articles, presumably because they're also in the stubs category and you've misunderstood the implications of WP:OVERCAT about avoiding placing articles into transitive categories, i.e. parent categories as well as sub categories. This is a reasonable general principle, widely mis-applied across WP though, and it certainly doesn't apply to stub categories. If it were applied to stub categories, we'd never achieve any proper categorization! Andy Dingley (talk) 22:17, 1 February 2013 (UTC)
ET video game[edit]
The time limit sentences are unsourced, and everything I've read (and seen) says it's not an actual time limit. Can you explain why you re-added that material without a source? JimKaatFan (talk) 01:19, 16 July 2020 (UTC)
- Okay, so I found more. While there is no overall time limit, there is that time limit after the phone is assembled. I included two new sources and edited the text to accurately reflect those sources. However, there's still no source for the "adversity" original research, so I think that should stay out. - The reference is maybe in one article of Howard Scott Warshaw for the GamesTM magazine, section "Core Memory" (Reference #18 in the ET page), but I not found these articles at archives.org (they only have 50 issues archived, maybe we need to wait a few months). - I re-read the Warshaw interview (Reference #18 in the ET page) - it doesn't mention him adding more adversity, and doesn't mention a time limit anywhere. Are you sure you're talking about that reference? I don't even know why it's called "Core Memory". That phrase does not appear anywhere in that page that's referenced. - The "Core Memory" linked at reference #19 is wrong. "Core Memory" is an articles series written by Warshaw in GamesTM magazine. Please search by Howard Scott Warshaw in this page: https://magazinesfromthepast.fandom.com/wiki/Games%E2%84%A2_Issue_111 So... the suspicion is that the adversity comment is Scott's in one of these articles, but we don't know what it is. According to Google, Scott wrote at numbers 71, 86, 111 and 114. But they're not available anywhere we can check, so if we remove it, we may have to put it back in the future when that information is available. On the subject of the time limit, the instruction manual says so at the end of page 4: in the special area of "call the ship", the time counter appears. - As for "Core Memory" - first you said it was reference #18, so I fixed that one. But the URL you're giving me does not even mention the ET video game, and only mentions Warshaw as writing a column in some magazine. Additionally, it's not a reliable source - it's just a fan wiki. As far as I can tell, that's a useless reference.
