Alan Chac[edit]
“An artist who is not afraid of color” is a fitting description for Alan, an Argentinian artist living in Aarhus, Denmark. A 35-year-old artist fusion of two cultures— "My artistic journey started in Argentina, where I discovered my photographic style which could be called night photography of sharp neon lights of Buenos Aires."
The chosen medium is acrylic and oil on canvas, the style in "between abstract and figurative". He have crafted a series of paintings named “Couples,” and "Trios" which search into the intricate dynamics between what’s there and who, blurring the lines between reality and abstraction. Creating a dynamic between the spectator and the painting invites us to think about who are the characters, and where are they from.
His inspiration is people that "I met during my life, in Argentina, the colors and energy of my homeland continue to infuse my work, even after moving abroad. My paintings are a visual exploration of the dynamic human interactions I experienced in Argentina – the spontaneous sidewalk conversations, the tango, the heartfelt childhood moments, the teenage/adult adventures. Now I want to share my experiences and art to where I am living now, Denmark."
Through bold colors, textures, and strong brushstrokes, he capture the essence of Argentine life. Warm hues represent the passionate spirit, while contrasting colors reflect the city’s vibrant energy. "It’s a place that can both embrace and challenge you, a feeling I translate onto the canvas with intensity". Intriguing characters, tango’s deep emotions, and the unique “something extra” that hangs in the Buenos Aires air – all simmering for years, now finding a voice in my art. I invite you to delve into my paintings and connect with the stories they hold".
"The inspiration comes from people who have character and personality and are not afraid of fitting into standards."[1]
I am trying to show the personality of these people who inspire me with colors, and I am honest with my color selection, trying to feel what color needs to be next to the other.
The characters he bring to life on canvas exist in a realm between the familiar and the extraordinary. Skin tones and clothing hues resist conventions, casting aside expectations and embracing uniqueness. "This intentional departure from the ordinary is at the core of my mission to evoke emotions, provoke contemplation, and ignite dialogues".
Two artists who have significantly influenced his art style are Francis Bacon and Edward Hopper. From Bacon, I’ve drawn inspiration from his fearless exploration of the human form and his ability to convey intense emotions through distorted and unconventional representations. This resonates with my ‘Couples’ series, where I seek to capture the complexity of relationships by blending human and alternative elements. Like Bacon, I’m interested in pushing the boundaries of perception and challenging viewers to engage with the unexpected.
Alan has studied photography, and Cinema in La Plata, but besides that he studied color combination with the artist German Gargano and Falopapas
Alan Chac has had 2 exhibition with Art nordic, and next May he is showing his art in the new exhibition from the gallery.
Next plans are Hamburg, and "West Station Gallery" solo exhibition in September 2024.
