Amos Neheman is a specialist in pediatric and adult urology, and is Head of the Department of Urology at the Meir Medical Center in Kfar Saba, Israel.
In September 2023 he was granted the title of Associate Clinical Professor at the Sackler School of Medicine of Tel Aviv University.
Biography
Neheman was born in the agricultural cooperative village Moledet in the Jezreel Valley in Israel. He went to the elementary school "Beeri" in Rishon LeZion and graduated from High School at the Reali Gymnasium in Rishon LeZion.
Between years 1974-1978 he lived with his family in Washington, DC and Toronto as part of a diplomatic mission.
Between years 1986-1990 he served in the IDF in a combat role in the artillery force. Among his various roles in the military, he served as a recruits company commander, and as a gunner course commander.
He kept serving in the IDF reserves until released from service in 2018. His last role was chairman of the Committee for Military Medical Profile (Medical fitness category) Determination, at the Tiberias Recruitment Office.
Between years 1991-1997 he attended the Baruch Rappaport Faculty of Medicine at the Rambam Medical Center in Haifa, Israel, and graduated with honors.
Career
1998-2006 - Residency in Urology at the Lady Davis Carmel Medical Center, Haifa, Israel.
2006-2007- Fellowship at the Alfred Dupont Children's Hospital in Wilmington, DE , where he specialized in laparoscopic minimally invasive surgery and pediatric urology. As part of this training, he specialized in complex surgery procedures for the correction of congenital malformations of the urinary and genital tracts.
In 2014 Neheman went to Paris for training in robotic surgery performed with the Da-Vinci robotic instrument. Following this training, he visited Paris again in 2021 for further specialization in robotic surgery and in kidney surgery, including kidney cancer interventions.
2008-2016 - Pediatric Urology Service Director at the Meir Medical Center, Kfar Saba, Israel.
2009-2022 – Head of the Unit of Pediatric Urology, Shamir Medical Center (formerly Assaf Harofeh), Beer Yaakov, Israel.
2023- present – Head of the Department of Urology, Meir Medical Center, Kfar Saba, academically affiliated to the Faculty of Medicine of Tel Aviv University.

Since 2021 Prof. Neheman participates in medical committees of the MOR Institute to assess the eligibility of students for the faculty of medicine.
Among his academic activities, Prof. Neheman serves as a tutor to medical students at the school of medicine and at their clinical training.
In 2015 he was nominated lecturer at the Faculty of Medicine of Tel Aviv University, and in 2023 full clinical professor.
Prof. Neheman published over 50 research articles in international journals. He presented over 65 original research studies in international congresses, many of which in the field of laparoscopic and robotic surgery.
Entrepreneurship
Between years 2015-2017 he served as co-entrepreneur and medical director of a start-up business, involved in the development of a breakthrough technological imaging device placed in the urinary bladder for the follow up of bladder cancer[1][2].
He also registered a patent in the prevention of bacteria contamination of foreign bodies in the urinary tract, which was published in the British Journal of Urology.[3]
