Liaisons referred by this one LS on work items related to deterministic networking in SG13
Body
Dear Colleagues,

The IEEE 802.1 Working Group would like to thank ITU-T Study Group 13 for the
information provided in liaison statement SG13-LS8 and SG13-LS44 about work
items related to deterministic networking in ITU-T SG13.

Thank you for sending the draft text of these Recommendations. The IEEE 802.1
WG appreciates the referencing of TSN standards. However, we were not able to
review LS8 before receiving LS44. As a result, it is unfortunate that LS44 was
sent after the documents were approved as we have some editorial corrections to
offer.

In Y.3120, “TSN ATS” is mentioned several times but there is no reference. We
recommend a bibliographical reference to IEEE Std 802.1Q-2022. In addition,
please note that the group should be referred to as the “IEEE 802.1
Time-Sensitive Networking Task Group”

In Y.3121, the term “central network configuration” is used, but the commonly
used term, defined by IEEE Std 802.1Q-2022 is “Centralized Network
Configuration”. We recommend using the latter. Also, there is a reference to
the TSN TG, but there is an outdated URL reference. The bibliography item
should be:

[b-IEEE TSN] IEEE 802.1 Time-Sensitive Networking Task Group,
https://www.ieee802.org/1/tsn

We would like to point out that we have not received a specific response from
you to our liaison letter
https://www.ieee802.org/1/files/public/docs2021/liaison-response-itu-t-SG13-LS217-determcommunics-1121-v01.pdf,
which we sent in response to your liaison statement SG13-LS217. We have
provided technical considerations in the annex of our liaison letter.
Furthermore, we emphasize again, as we pointed out in the body of our previous
liaison letter, the IEEE 802.1 TSN TG is responsible for deterministic
communications in Local and Metropolitan Area Networks and coordinates with the
centers of competence, i.e., with IETF and 3GPP for applications that have
needs beyond LAN/MAN. We kindly request serious consideration of our liaison
communications for the overall benefits of the industry.

Note that the IEEE 802 work is open and contribution driven. Participation is
on an individual basis and technical discussion can be conducted based on
individual contributions. The TSN Task Group holds regular electronic meetings:
details are available at https://1.ieee802.org/wg-calendar.

Respectfully submitted,

Glenn Parsons
Chair, IEEE 802.1 Working Group
