  • SSAC Staff The CZDS 3.0 project has been placed on hold to prioritize work on the Registration Data Request Service (RDRS), formerly referred to as the Whois Disclosure System (WDS), as directed by the ICANN Board resolutions from the special meeting of the ICANN board held on 27-February-2023. Zone file metrics continue to be published on CZDS without interruption. In the 2023 Global Amendment to the Base Registry Agreement ICANN and the Registries improved the clarity of the reporting requirements for WHOIS queries in attempt to address SSAC’s advice to reduce the “inaccuracy” of WHOIS query reporting and future RDAP reporting. ICANN continues to be available to support SSAC's leadership at the TechOps Group related to Web-based WHOIS query statistics.

  • SSAC Staff The CZDS 3.0 project has been placed on hold to prioritize work on the Registration Data Request Service (RDRS), formerly referred to as the Whois Disclosure System (WDS), as directed by the ICANN board resolutions from the special meeting of the ICANN board held on 27-February-2023. Work is currently paused until the CZDS 3.0 project is prioritized again in the future and, from a compliance perspective, will potentially reduce the need for filing complaints as one of the main functionalities will include support for automatic compliance escalation of unattended access requests in pending status and other updates. In the meantime, ICANN Contractual Compliance notes the total number of complaints received regarding zone file access has remained low over the course of the past year at only 17% of the total number of complaints received concerning all registry-related obligations.

  • SSAC Staff As part of the CZDS 3.0 project, internal updates were released on 31-Jan-2023 to the CZDS system to optimize storage and processing of CZDS requests by separating historical CZDS requests separately from the pending and approved requests, improving system response times for registry operators. The CZDS 3.0 project has been placed on hold to prioritize work on the Registration Data Request Service (RDRS), formerly referred to as the Whois Disclosure System (WDS), as directed by the ICANN board resolutions from the special meeting of the ICANN board held on 27-February-2023. Work is currently paused until the CZDS 3.0 project is prioritized again in the future, which includes enhancements in availability and performance for the zone download service, support for automatic compliance escalation of unattended access requests in pending status and other updates. Once the CZDS 3.0 project is completed, the CZDS system will support the same functionality and zone file access approval policies for any TLD added in the future.

  • SSAC Staff  SAC074 R-4 is tracked a s a project as well. The implementation phase is expected to be completed in the 1st quarter of 2023. ICANN org has completed its review of existing materials to understand where there are gaps in training programs for registrars and registries related to the credential management cycle. ICANN org is now in the process of updating existing courses TE10 - DNS Ecosystem Security, and TE12 - Network Operations Security, to meet the requirements of SAC074 recommendation 4. Further, ICANN org is developing materials for a new course, TE15 - Credential Management Lifecycle. This work is expected to be complete by the end of the calendar year 2022. ICANN org will provide a formal update to the Board to complete the implementation of this recommendation, per the ARR process.
