ICAO has contributed to the groundbreaking Key Trade Documents and Data Elements (KTDDE) Final Report, prepared under the International Chamber of Commerce's Digital Standards Initiative (ICC DSI). This deliverable serves as an invaluable tool for regulators and industry by clearly defining the data elements required for supply chain processes. Its online, free-of-charge, interactive glossary promotes interoperability through aligned data standards across transportation modes. Celebrating World AIS Day: Pivotal for Seamless Air Navigation and Sustainable Aviation 🌐✈️🌿 Today, we join the aviation community in observing World AIS Day, an initiative by the IFAIMA - International Federation of Aeronautical Information Management Associations. This day raises awareness about the crucial role of Aeronautical Information Services (AIS) in enabling safe, efficient and environmentally sustainable air operations globally. We thank IFAIMA for its close cooperation with ICAO in promoting AIS and developing technical standards through representing the views of its members to ICAO. At ICAO, we deeply understand AIS's importance in realizing a seamless global air navigation system and achieving our decarbonization goals. AIS drives the transition from traditional aeronautical information methods to modern, digital, and data-centric aeronautical information management. Accurate, timely aeronautical data provided by AIS is vital for all flight phases - planning, operations and post-flight activities. It allows pilots, air traffic controllers and stakeholders to make informed decisions for safe, efficient travel while optimizing routes and operations for lower emissions. World AIS Day highlights the exceptional work of AIS professionals worldwide who collect, process and disseminate high-quality aeronautical data with integrity, enabling seamless air traffic flow and industry growth. At UNCITRAL Working Group VI, ICAO Legal Officer Erika Varga delivered a presentation on the #MontrealConvention to help raise awareness of its air cargo provisions. It was important for ICAO to provide this information, as the new legal instrument on negotiable cargo documents will cover all modes of transportation, including #aviation.

Kazakhstan partnering with ICAO on Sustainable Aviation Fuels On 13 May 2024, with the signature by H.E Talgat Lastaev, Vice-Minister of Transport, of the ACT-SAF terms of reference, #Kazakhstan became the first State in the CIS to join this key programme of the International Civil Aviation Organization. By doing so, Kazakhstan will benefit from assistance, capacity building and training to scale up the production and deployment of Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF). This is an important step showing the State’s commitment towards the sustainable development of aviation. This will in turn yield significant benefits for the sustainable socio-economic development of this landlocked, fast-growing country.
