Every passenger deserves a safe flight, no matter what. That means having 2 pilots at the controls, regardless of the flight, price, airline, or aircraft type. Let’s stand together against airlines and manufacturers pushing for single-pilot flights. Our safety is non-negotiable. Last Thursday, 09/05, at #IFALPA2024, we launched a new website for passengers to learn about the risks of single-pilot flights. Onemeansnone.eu #SafetyStartsWith2 #OneMeansNone IFALPA

Though #WorldPilotsDay is over, we’re still celebrating the incredible skill, dedication, and professionalism of airline pilots around the globe who keep our skies safe and secure, and our travels on-course. From navigating around convective weather and dealing with in-flight emergencies, to ensuring smooth landings, having at least two well trained, well rested pilots on every flight deck is critical to ensuring the continued record of safety excellence on every commercial and cargo airline flight. Some aircraft manufacturers and industry groups are currently advocating to reduce the number of pilots required to be on the flight deck, either during certain phases of flight, or by entirely eliminating one pilot from the aircraft and substituting with a remote second pilot. This advocacy falsely attempts to say that due to improvements in automation and technology that the second pilot can be eliminated. Research does not exist to substantiate these claims and numerous safety and security issues associated with this premise have been identified. However, profit and other financial motivations also reveal a perceived view that there are substantial cost savings to be realized with this flawed, and ultimately dangerous approach to airline operations and safety. Today’s pilots earn the stripes on their shoulders through hard work, extensive initial and ongoing training and study, and the uniquely human wisdom and decision-making ability gained through extensive hours of practical experience. No level of automation or a remote pilot can currently match an onboard crew’s dedication, training, instincts, and ability to solve complex problems that arise during a flight. In fact, crew frequently have to intervene to correct today’s technology when it does not operate as designed or intended. Strong safety standards save lives, and passengers, based on surveys, have expressed a strong unwillingness to fly on an airliner with just one pilot on the flight deck, regardless of a decrease in airfare cost. With two pilots on board, every airline flight is in the best possible configuration for safe operations and successful outcomes across the range of challenges that occur on the flight deck, every day. That’s why today the #SafetyStartsWith2 global pilot coalition is launching #5DaysOfSaves, to share some of the many real-world examples of the importance of two pilots on the flight deck. https://lnkd.in/eFu_XsTP IFALPA European Pilots

In the 2021 Social Rating Survey, Volotea was categorized as a 'social snail' airline, achieving high marks for its ‘Diversity and equal opportunities’ but scoring low about its Collective labour agreement. Will the airline manage to meet or exceed their previous score this time? We're eager to hear from Volotea pilots. Today marks the celebration of #WorldPilotsDay! Pilots play an indispensable role in the safety and efficiency of air travel. However, there's a growing trend in the industry aimed at reducing the cockpit crew from two pilots to just one. It's crucial to spread awareness within the global pilot community, all aviation stakeholders and beyond about the importance of maintaining two pilots in the flight deck at all times for maximum safety.
