During #NationalVolunteerWeek, we'll be testing phones collected in our office at 833 Collins Street, Docklands.    In partnership with DV Safe Phone, these phones will be erased and tested, and then given to those currently experiencing domestic violence, ensuring they have a safe way to stay connected and reach out for help.    There's still time for you to make a difference - if you have any unused phones laying around, please drop them off at the security desk located in our office before Tuesday 21 May.

Melbourne friends, I wanted to take a moment to express my gratitude for your amazing support of DV Safe Phone. ANZ has been an incredible partner in this journey, and they're stepping up their game even more. On May 21st, during National Volunteer Week, ANZ will be testing phones that have been received through their collection points. But here's the twist - they're inviting ANYONE to drop off their unused phones to their corporate office at 833 Collins Street Docklands (Melbourne) BEFORE Tuesday, May 21st, and they'll test these for us too! So if you're in the CBD area and can get down to ANZ Docklands, please drop in your unused phones to their security desk and they'll do the rest! Together, we can make a difference. Thank you again for your support! #DVSafePhone #ANZ #NationalVolunteerWeek

Today, Friday May 17, marks International Day Against Homophobia, Biphobia and Transphobia (#IDAHOBIT). Being able to be yourself at work is so important - it allows you to be comfortable in your weaknesses, bold in your strengths and confident in yourself.      Theo Bridge, Senior Strategic & Service Designer, and his partner Joseph Perry run a vinyl store, Queer Records, based in Melbourne. Theo says communities like the one he's built through Queer Records, exist across ANZ and drive workplace creativity and connections between music and vinyl lovers.      “This is really a story about communities and people being brought together by their shared passion for music.”      "Whether we talk specifically about vinyl, or just music in general, it’s been a great way to get to know people in my team or connect with stakeholders."      Read Theo's story here: https://lnkd.in/edFghykw

"You can have all the ramps in the world but that means nothing if people with a disability arrive to your offices and don’t feel included," Dylan Alcott OAM, ANZ Ambassador explains.     “There are 4.5 million people in this country with a disability, only 54 per cent of them are involved in the workforce. That number hasn't changed in 31 years.”     Our CEO Shayne Elliott is proud to say supporting diversity has become a core pillar of who we are as a bank.      "One in five people have a visible or invisible disability and we want to enable their social and economic participation, from getting a job, saving for retirement or becoming the next LeBron James.”      Read more about Dylan's journey: https://lnkd.in/gBa5xTmU      Dylan Alcott Foundation

It's time to celebrate the mums and mother figures in our lives.    When Darlene Viliame applied for our Fiji graduate program, her daughter Sarah was only a toddler, and Darlene was 6-months pregnant.      Fast forward 21 years and Darlene now heads transaction banking operations for the Pacific from ANZ’s Suva headquarters. Her daughter, Sarah, joined our graduate program this year, which is kicking off again after an 18-year hiatus.    “We've been a part of ANZ since I can remember. I think Mum dreaded the fact she had to take us to work with her sometimes. We enjoyed going to the office after school, just being with her while she did her thing. We would play Dora the Explorer, probably annoying some of her colleagues, but it was just normal for us.”    “Mum constantly encouraged me to embrace opportunities as they come up and just go for it. She is my number one supporter,” Sarah says.    Read more about the mother and daughter duo here: https://lnkd.in/eteNvaHZ

Step into a time machine as we embark on the ANZ #ErasTour! ✨     We’re starting our tour in a period that marked a boom in Melbourne's history and banking institutions. Just like Taylor Swift channeled her emo persona with her ‘Reputation’ album, ANZ entered its goth phase on May 31, 1887 when the Gothic Bank first opened for business.      Following a two-year restoration project, ANZ’s enchanting heritage-listed Gothic Bank recently reopened with the special addition of a new banking museum. Amongst other things, visitors can check out hundreds of (old and new) ANZ money boxes, props from memorable ad campaigns and exhibits that encapsulate the history of Melbourne’s banking history.     You’ll find the Gothic Bank on the corner of Queen and Collins Street in Melbourne’s CBD. It’s open to the public with visitors welcome Monday to Friday between 9.30am and 4pm (excluding public holidays).

"Leading up to doing my debut solo show at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, I was a little nervous taking time off for the show as well as time to take care of my two kids that also were in school holidays. My manager was fully supportive which meant a lot. This gave me the time and space to put on the best show possible, which in the end was a wild success on all measures!"    Lee Ton, a Vietnamese Australian father of two, working at ANZ for over 15 years, first started as a bank teller at our Balwyn branch. Now a Product Fix Manager, he also has a unique side gig – comedy.     "One thing I have observed across my career which I find funny is, as my parents moved here after the Vietnam War, English isn't their first language, so they can't understand the work I do at ANZ, and my Vietnamese will never be good enough to explain it to them.    Now that I’ve moved on from the Branch, no matter what role I work in, they will still always ask me if I can help one of their friends with a mortgage."
