When I came across IOD's .web, I did research with CNET and other reputable, established Internet news sources that confirmed that IOD was a pioneer and contender. Even though it was not news on ICANN's site, it was clear that I had not stumbled upon a scam, for journalists were covering it as a legitimate prospect.

While I was not sure how great a risk IOD was, I was relieved to know that I was not about to transfer my credit card information to some teenage hacker who put up a web scam.
